Today a wide variety of commercial BGAN terminals are available,
but they do not readily provide the levels of flexibility, security or
robustness required for military use.
On May 26th, Spectrum and GateHouse A/S presented the webcast
"BGAN Satellite Communications in Software Defined Radio."
The webcast explained how BGAN, the mobile satellite service that
offers on-demand voice and data with guaranteed rates virtually anywhere on the
globe, can be used in a rugged, software-reconfigurable terminal.

[ XMC-1131 Ships to
Defense Primes ]
Spectrum recently announced the shipment of the new XMC-1131 high-speed dual channel
analog-to-digital converter (ADC) module to several leading Defense primes. Spectrum's XMC-1131 is the sister card of the XMC-2131, which has received over $1 million in orders this year.
These modules are used in signals intelligence (SIGINT),
electronic warfare (EW), and military communications (MILCOM) systems, and are
compatible with Spectrum's CompactPCI, PCIe, PCI-X, and VME based product lines.
